Emilie De Angelis, Principal & Owner
For more than 25 years, Emilie has helped nonprofits in the arts, culture, and education fields find and connect with donors to achieve transformative ambitions.
Her experience includes:
• Managing and raising $20+ million for the early stage of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre expansion
• Managing top level donor gifts for the $400 million Modern Wing expansion at the Art Institute of Chicago
• Overseeing the annual goal for corporate, foundation, and government gifts at the Art Institute
• Organizing a groundbreaking retreat for 60 trustees and donors to jump start a $50 million endowment campaign
• Teaching nonprofits how to win foundation, government, and individual major gifts for transformative projects
Emilie is a fourth-generation New Mexican, born in Albuquerque. She studied art history at Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame and spent 18 years working at top nonprofits in Chicago. Her consulting practice now serves nonprofit clients locally and nationally.
She’s served as a recurring guest lecturer for exhibition studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and as a career panelist for the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. She's taught major gifts, grant writing, and evaluation workshops for Metropolitan Library Services (Chicago), the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (Albuquerque), and the Santa Fe Community Foundation.
Emilie has served as a reviewer on several funding panels, including the Institute of Museum and Library Services in Washington, DC, the CityArts panel for Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Albuquerque Community Foundation.
In 2016, Emilie moved back home with her husband and son to reunite with family and rediscover sunshine. She's the immediate past chair of the City of Albuquerque Arts Board that oversees its public art program, appointed by Mayor Tim Keller. She's Chair of the Board at Escuela del Sol Montessori and Harwood Art Center. She's a board member of the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience Foundation and Global Ties ABQ, and a past board member of FUSION Theater Company.
As the state leader of Moms Demand Action NM from 2017-21, Emilie helped pass three landmark gun reform bills in the New Mexico legislature and ran for Albuquerque City Council in 2021. She's also a proud breast cancer survivor.
